| | | Adelphos Pro Backfire - Another mod manager - Readme | | Readme File: Don't let the name scare you, I am planning on renaming this program to "Yammp"
or something.
This program is another attempt to create a good mod manager.
I have not tested it on Vista, but I have tested it on XP, 2000, and 98.
This program requires atleast 200MB of HD space, but I recommend 1GB for your mods.
Step 1) Download the program
Step 2) Extract the files to C:\Program Files\Adelphos Pro\Backfire\
Step 3) Run Backfire.exe
Step 4) Follow the instructions on screen.
I am sorry if some parts of the program are buggy or look weird, also some
features (like rename or online updates) do not fully work yet!
Also I would not use "minimode" as I have not worked on it since version 1.98!
Tell me what you all think!
Q. What IS Backfire?
Backfire helps users manage their installed mods (Modifications) for their games. Within one window, you can easily activate and deavtivate mods for most of your games (If you game is not supported, as most are more then likely not, you can create support for it pretty easily)!
Q. What are some of the main features of Backfire?
1) EASLY enable/disable installed mods
2) VERY customizable Each game support file has it's own sounds
(No colors YET Sorry)
3) In a little while, it MAY also run on Linux and Mac :)
4) VERY user friendly Just click a mod from one of two lists (enabled/disabled)
and click 'Enable/Disable'. Each mod that has a support file may show a bitmap and
a discription (That depends on how lazy people are :P)
5) You can filter some mods based on what they are
6) If you still need more information, PLEASE email me adelphospro2000 AT yahoo DOT com
If you got any ideas, PLEASE feal free to send them to me!
If you would like to make this program open source, just ask and
I think we can work something out. For now its just freeware. | |

adelphospro Joined: December 7th, 2006 Posts: 44 | lol thanks. Im sorry for the bug. If you are still having the problem, go into the main directory and open "error.log". It may be a jumbled bundle of text so if you can't make anything of it send it to me at: adelphospro2000 ATY yahoo DOTY com
I think it may have something to do with a file copy issue. Here's another way:
In the backfire menu, click "Locate a game", and find CoD's program exe (or CoDUO's or another game). Backfire should then try and scan through it's support files for support. If it crashes again, I think I know the problem. Hope this works! |

also what games does this support? |
adelphospro Joined: December 7th, 2006 Posts: 44 | Aha! I see. It seems to be an error with the "Word of the Day" system, ill post a patch as soon as I have time.
As towards what games it supports, not alot. I could only create support for games that I owned. This program works best for games that have a mod system (Like CoD and MOHAA), games like SW Battlefront are barely supported. You can easily create support though. Check out my post in the FF forums for help: http://forums.filefront.com/general-gaming/325007-mod-management-software.html
I can create the support files for you if you can send me some information about a game. |

adelphospro Joined: December 7th, 2006 Posts: 44 | V2.25 is coming up! It will have support for games like battlefield, some bug fixes, plus a new feature that allows you to open any file with Backfire: when you do that Backfire will not load, instead a small window will appear that gives you a list of all the games you have that support that file type. You will also be given the options to: "Install to Backfire" "Uninstall from Backfire" (Will deactivate too) "Activate" (Will install too) "Deactivate" "Cancel" or "Run Backfire". I may also add a way so you can open several files from explorer at the same time (Ie open 2 .pk3 files and 1 .rez file and have the option to manage them all quickly), but you could just open them all and manage each window. |
adelphospro Joined: December 7th, 2006 Posts: 44 | Ok, this is the last version ill will post here. I submitted this version to CoDfiles so it should be appearing soon.
Here is the link to v2.26:
http://files.filefront.com/Install+Backfire+v226exe/;8723467;/fileinfo.html
v2.26 fixed Online Updates support. It also fixed the "Play Game" button so that it now works right.
By v3, I plan on re-making the ModInstall system so it installs/uninstalls faster. |
