Description:
True, it's not all about looks, but I think this should be one of the top priorities when producing a map of this large size and versatility. {PST}*Rocky brings us a map based on Gold Beach with the British spawning in boats and the Germans on land, but I'm not fully impressed. I'm a little confused as to why the map is so huge in file size (42.1 MB). Anyway, it's available in DM, TDM, and CTF, so check out the screenshots below and if you're interested, give it a download.

Intent:
This map was created with Realism in mind. The scene is Gold Beach this was one of the landing spots for the British troops during
the allied attack at Normandy. {PST}Rocky wanted the British to spawn on the Ships and the Germans to be in the Bunkers as it
was in the real battle. On the {PST} server this map will run in CTF mode, with the minefields turned ON so that this can
be accomplished and still be a High quality Sniper Map.

Compatibility:
This map was created to run on {PST}'s eXtreme server, so it is compatible with the eXtreme+ mod, as well as stock servers.

Instructions:

DM: For Deathmatch, set your g_gametype to DM and turn Minefields OFF.

TDM: For Team Deathmatch, set your g_gametype to TDM and turn Minefields ON.

CTF: For Capture the Flag, set your g_gametype to CTF and turn Minefields OFF.

Sniper Servers:
If you want British to spawn on the Ships, and Germans to Spawn on the Beach, use CTF with Minefields ON for No-Crossing.
If the spawn points do not matter to you, then TDM with Minefields ON is the other option. Long Range rifles are a MUST
while running this map.

The reason the map is over 40 megabytes is due to all of the in-game effects (moving tanks and boats, mortars, ect).

Good idea, and the result isn't too bad. You just have to clean it up a little bit. Add some smoke or fog, and make the sky more lighter and foggier like it was on D-day. And a SP version of this map would be awesome. 7/10

I actually have to agree with Ezekiel. I'm not impressed either. This looks nothing like Gold Beach, or D-Day for that matter. I'm curious, why are Crusader tanks in Normandy? And why so much airforce, etc.... The airforce didn't take so much of a part on the direct landings. The Sky should be like Gray(As if it's about to rain, or just got done raining), Not understanding why you made it look like nighttime.
You should make the "Box" of the map ALOT bigger, so it doesn't look all cut off like that. Look at SP Map "Point Du Hoc", the beach and map isn't all cut off.

I'd say, put like 2-3 tanks, and they should be "Shermans" not Crusaders. Put like mortar explosions on the beach. The boats should be farther away. There should be no Planes(If so, probably like 2 spitfires flying by, time to time). And a new sky, like explained above. I seen pictures of Gold Beach, and the bunkers should be farther away; the beach should be much longer (acourse with hills, like originally, just not with bunkers on it. Gold Beach wasn't that armed like Omaha...etc...).

Remember, I'm not bashing the map, just telling what I think should be fixed/changed.

I think the main purpose of this map wasn't historical accuracy, but more or less a big wide open sniper battle map.

....why the submarine on the beach? Dude..read a book once and awhile, and if your going to make a map about an historical place, reasearch it a bit

I cant see no Submarine. Im not sure what your on about Folley.

But that is a pretty crap map. If your gonna name it after Gold Beach at least make it look like Gold Beach.
