Description:
I'm speechless. This is awesome. I don't know how someone goes about modding in something like this, but it's great! This new bot mod by Maks Deryabin is just amazing. The bots play like people! They can be a tad dumb at times (when they catch you in their sights, they'll just stand there shooting at you), but then again, people can be dumb, too. Just read the ReadMe as best you can -- I know it's not the most clearly written -- and you can get your own bot match going. I was playing a 7 v. 7 on Carentan, and it got pretty intense. stick out tongue Now we just need to get some voices going for these bots... Get on it, Maks! smile

The description
========
Fashions for Call of Duty 2 bots adding in the multiuser game. Fashions it is intended only for one person creating a server (see "Start" è "Remarks"), i.e. normal work a fashion is guaranteed, if anybody except for the player its created does not join a server.

The best bots

These bots, as alive. Full illusion of game with alive players. Such yet was not. Bots are able to run, jump, jump over obstacles, to throw pomegranates, to sit in an ambush.


Installation
===========
Before instal strongly recommend patch game up to version 1.3.
Unpack archive and place in a directory of game, for example: C:\Games\Call of Duty 2.


Start
======
- In a folder with game create a label for CoD2MP_s.exe
- In adjustments{options} of a label in a field "Object" add the following line: +set fs_game mbot +exec mbot.cfg
- We start for game through the created label.
- Further we create the usual (not allocated) server through the menu " To create a server " or with the help of a console command
/map <map>.

axis - removes a bot from among an axis
all - removes all bots
<the name of a bot> - removes a bot with the specified name
Example: " removebot bot12 "

skill <number>: skill bots - from 0 up to 10, 10 - the most difficult.

restart <parm>: restart maps. <parm> can be: fast - fast restart
map - usual restart maps

loadmap <map>: loads a map with the name <map>. Loads, if only it supports bots.

bot_autojoin 1 - bots will automatically come for that team in which they were before

Remarks
=========
The following conditions are necessary for normal work a fashion:
- sv_pure 0
- dedicated 0
- USE of COMMANDS DESCRIBED ABOVE! It is not recommended USE by the following built - in commands: kick, clientkick, onlykick, banUser, banClient, tempBanUser, tempBanClient, fast_restart, map_restart, map_rotate, map, - as they can result in wrong work a fashion.
- On a server only one player - that is you, well and, naturally, bots.

#6, I believe he means to put it in a mbot folder in your Call of Duty 2 installation folder... i.e. Call of Dutymbot. Then put a shortcut (label as he says in the readme) on your desktop and go from there.

Do the following:

1. Unzip this package as it is to your original game installation folder -- NOT to your Main folder! Unzip it into, for example (using forward slashes because backslashes are removed), 'C:/Program Files/Activision/Call of Duty 2/' then you'll have a new folder in there: 'C:/Program Files/Activision/Call of Duty 2/mbot/' as made by the zip.
2. Make a new shortcut to the multi-player game by right-clicking "CoD2MP_s.exe" in the root directory ('C:/Program Files/Activision/Call of Duty 2/') and clicking "Create Shortcut."
3. Right-click that shortcut and click "Properties."
4. Make sure you're in the "Shortcut" tab at the top of the Properties window that came up.
5. In the "Target" line in this window, you'll want to add "+set fs_game mbot +exec mbot.cfg" without the quotes to the end of the target. Make sure you add a space there between the two. The end result of your "Target" line should be something like this: "Cstick out tonguerogram FilesActivisionCall of Duty 2CoD2MP_s.exe" +set fs_game mbot +exec mbot.cfg
6. You can now place that shortcut anywhere and run the mod by just opening that shortcut. When you're in the game after opening the mod, run a map as normal and use commands to mess with the bots. I did the following for a 7 v. 7 game on Carentan with the bots on highest difficulty.

/map mp_carentan
/skill 10
/addbot auto

I repeated that last command 12 more times to create the other 12 bots because it only adds one at a time. stick out tongue

I got the bots to work and all that, but whenever I try to set more than one bot to a team, the bot that was already on that team removes and rejoins. And randomly those bots just remove themselves....

Great mod btw. The bots do have some unusual quirks like throwing a nade ontu a roof (I mean seriously, why the hell do they do that?) but overall, great work man! Rock

If who is at a loss with installation and start of bots it is possible to find here
Bots which are started. If who does not like models which are used in it to a mods - it is necessary to remove from him a folder "character" and folders "xmodel", "xmodelparts", "xmodelsurfs".
And as in a folder a "sound" to remove a folder a "voice", "misc", "music".

That happens when you are playing on a map without Bot support (Check readme)

Hi all,
I've loved CoD2 since its creation and the only thing missing was bot support for multiplayer, this is until now!
I've used the other bot mods and they've been ok and enabled LAN gaming but this mod is amazing.
I have a small 4 PC LAN in my home and me, my son and his mates have a great time with CoD2 but things are going to be so much better thanks to our new best friend who created this bot.
We've already tried it out and it works like a dream. A 10 against 10 LAN game was fantastic. The bots worked perfectly and we didn't suffer any lag.
That fact that they move like human players, including jumping and climbing, throwing grenades is just brilliant.
I take my hat off to the creator(s).
A brilliant job, so well done. Keep up the fantastic work!

for those of you that have a problem with bots not moving: you are on a unsupported map. the bots move on predetrmined paths. the map you were using had no predetermined paths for the bots, so they couldnt move. check the readme for a list of supported maps

for those of you whose bots have a ping of 999: its not an error. it does not affect gameplay. after you have been hit by the bots, it will take a secong for you to die. thats all.

abotu the hard to understand readme: guys, realize he doesnt speak english and probably uses an online translator. just get over it. at least ezekiel understood it enough to give som solid installation instructions

any other errors/complaints: realize this is only a 0.7 version. im sure the team who developed it is still working on it. of course this is only an assumption

If you're having problems then I'd suggest removing all other mods in your 'Main' folder, if you have any installed.
It works 100% on my PC but I have just done a fresh install of CoD2 then patched to v1.3, so may be that helps. I put it on my sons PC as well and it works fine for him too.
Keep trying guys as it is certainly worth the effort!!

I get the 999 ping as well and totally agree with Bassoonboy, it is not an error. Just ignore it.
I also agree you should follow xXezekielXx's instructions at Post #8 above. That's what I did to get my maps working. And only load the maps listed in the ReadMe file.
Sorry to repeat what others have said but I think it is worth it to encourage people to be patient. This is a brilliant mod.

Hi Predattor,
Thank you for the waypoints for Omaha, they work fine. I've just played a 20 against 20 game and it was brilliant!
One small point. Each time i play the map the Americans (allies) are defending and the Germans (axis) are attacking, which is obviously wrong for Omaha and D-Day. Can it be changed so the allies are on the beach attacking?
Also the Americans speak Russian. Can any of this be fixed?
One last question... is there any way to get the bots to use the MG42s?

Bots here there is nothing.
To force speak English bots I can. Only hardly later. Now there is no time.

Have you managed to get your bots working yet?
If not, have you patched CoD2 to version 1.3? If not then do this now, then reinstall the Mbot mod.
Else, check your 'mbot' folder is in the 'Call of Duty 2' folder and not 'main'.
Have you installed the combined mbot mod and the Mortars and Voices for MeatBot (mbot) mod? If so, does you mbot folder have these files/folders:
- Docs folder
- scriptdata folder
- cod2_mortars.cfg
- mbot.cfg
- z_cod2_mortars_voice_for_mbot.iwd
- zz_mbot_dev.iwd
You may also have files called games_mp.log and hunkusage.dat if you've run the mbot mod at least once. Also there may be a 'players' folder. Try deleting the players folder and games_mp.log and hunkusage.dat then run the mod again using the special Desktop Shortcut.

Check you mbot.cfg looks like this (open with Notepad):

Let me know how you get on. Hope you get it working as it is brilliant. Oh, also get rid of any mods etc from your 'main' folder. Even try a reinstall of CoD2.

In the next version it would be better if:

1) The bots ping wasnt 999, coz it makes some peoples computers lag
2) That the bots dont get stuck (sometimes they clash and get stuck and when u shoot them they dont die. They do only if you use grenades)
3) That you can write in the console:
/addbot auto 10
So that it will add 10 automatically instead of having to write '/addbot auto' over
and over.

Predattors two links (Silotown), first one is supposed to be waypoints and second link is link to download the actual Silotown map.
I've downloaded the Silotown map but the waypoint link doesn't work for me. Hence my question to Predattor.

Regarding your Omaha map. Where can I download your version of Omaha (as per the YouTube video)? Do you have a link?

By the way, have you seen the new MeatBot Crazy Glu mod (see link below). It's getting a bit mad now with all these different versions doing the rounds. I haven't tested this one yet (Crazy Glu).

If you are english speaking and want to read the Russian CoD2 site http://callofduty.ru just go to the Google home page (www.google.co.uk) select the link 'Language Tools', on the new page, scroll down to 'Translate a web page' and enter the russian sites web address, then select 'Russian to English BETA' from the drop down menu, and hit the Translate button.
It doesn't always translate every word but works well enough to understand whats been said.

I have downloaded from the internet some russian to english translation software. When I copy the text from the mbot_dev.txt file into the translator it isn't recognized as being russian.

The developer cepe7a, known as under a name sERGE-002, has made the convenient program of installation.

I post on there and find the members very helpful. They try their best to answer in English, which is appreciated.
You can download PromtX from the internet which will translate Russian to English and vice versa. It's only a 30 day trial but I am finding it very useful.

When I first time sow this mod I was sceptical. I supposed that bots will be very stupid
Now I see that irrespective of how good you are in this game, it still can be very fun.
Now I play it with my friends all the time in local.
Thanks for this great mod, its brilliant! Excellent work!
And for peoples who have problems with installation, maps and "bots moving", I suggest that they read instructions again. Everything is there already. :-)

Thank you very much for this link and sorry, but I checked some above mentioned Russian forums before but couldn't find anything about creating wps... that was the reason, after understanding the wp-file, that I started to create this file manually.

And besides I think I will need really only one week to do it manually (half of my map was already done). But you need the .map file and the cod2radiant and I copied spawnpoints to mark the wp-positions and get the angles for type c and g. So it is a bit easier to do it on your way ;-)

Is it possible, that the mentioned command bot_wpfile does not exist?
However it's also working without using this command (I used bot_printwps or wp_check)

So thanks again for your support and for this really brilliant and fantastic BOT - MOD!!!

Any manuals on creation wp does not exist.
But on that site which I specified can answer a concrete question about MBot. It is necessary to ask only.
For creation WP it is not necessary .map a file.
Absolutely ready map is necessary.
As I have already told I have badly understood a post. Therefore I shall give the brief description of commands.

bot_debug 1 - ON editor WP

bot_status <the name of a boat> - shows the status of a boat

bot_printwps <initial number> <the final number> - deduces in the console all current WP, since <initial number> and finishing <with final number> and allocates chosen

bot_dumpwps 1 - keeps all WP in a file <mapname> _ <gametype> .tmp

deletewp 1 - to remove chosen WP

jumptonode <number> - to move on WP with number <number>

bot_autowp <N> - to include automatic arrangement WP with step <N>

bot_startwp 1 - establishes current, allocated, a point as an index point of a way for boats

bot_endwp 1 - establishes current, allocated, a point as a final point of a way for boats

wp_check 1 - to check up all WP on presence of mistakes, mistakes are given out in the console

wp_gotoerror 1 - to proceed{pass} to next erroneous WP

jamjam the brecourt works pretty good except that the two times i played it both sides clumped up and just chased each other clockwise round the map. could you make them camp alittle more and snipe i think this map calls for it

You asked at Post #87 if anyone had the 'other' Omaha map. Well, I knew I'd had that map in the past but couldn't find it anywhere. I also remembered a copy was stored on an old hard disk which had since been reformatted and partitioned.
So, I grabbed the drive and did a deep scan with some special file recovery software and low and behold I found it!!

I've started making the waypoint for the other Omaha and its quite a bit of work. I'm still getting the hang of using the botdev.cfg so it will be awhile

Do you get an error message or something?

When you click on the link at Post 161 a new window should open and the Rapidshare site should load. At the bottom of the web page are two buttons. The second button is labelled 'Free'. Click that button, a new page appears, enter the displayed code and hit the button to download.
I've just tested it and it worked fine. Looking at some of the other posts here it looks like others have managed to download it as well.
Let me know how you get on.

Complete Kudos to whoever made this mod becuz it rocks by the way somthin i didnt no at first is that the multiplayer server that you start has to be a pure server otherwise it doesnt work.... anyways I wanna really thank predattor for being such a help for everyone, especially ones that arent even from his own country, as well predattor your waypoint site for silotown doesnt work as well as salerno i was wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if thats just happened if so can you post them on a different site because i think it's really cool what you are doing smile

getting Ai to use cover duck go prone lean ect and use machine guns, is mostly stuff thats beyond most cod modders.

The waypoint files at this time are limited to
Climbing
Jump down
go over obstical
Jump
Camp
Walk
Throw Grenade

All of these can only be used only about 300 times per level. Making for limited bot movement . Doing villers-bocage it took me about 4 hours before I hit the cap on what I could do with bots.

Hi Burdy,
After adding the waypoints you need to come out of Call of Duty 2 and go and find the scriptdata folder where your new waypoint file is located. Your new file will be called 'nameofmap.tmp' where 'nameofmap' is the name of the map you've created waypoints for.

Now change the extension of the file from .tmp to .wp
Does that make sense?

What I've done is have two mbot folders in my Cod2 folder. One called MBot_sound_final which contains the version of Mbot that I play the game with and another folder called mbot which contains a Dev copy for creating the waypoints for maps. I have two different icons on my Desktop, one to launch the game for playing with the bots and the other for launching the game in Dev mode for creating map waypoints. That way I can't bugger anything up.

If you're working from the one folder then you will find your new waypoint file in the scriptdata folder, and therefore just change the file extension from .tmp to .wp.

If it still doesn't work then there must be errors in your new waypoint file. To fix them just change the extension back to .tmp and reload in Dev mode to find out what is wrong. Pressing the 'Home' key normally helps identify any problems.

Also, try removing any other custom maps from your CoD2 Main folder. I found doing this solved a problem I was having. Especially if you have both versions of the Omaha maps installed.

Any restrictions on special WP are not present. Attempt to remove{take off} restriction 256 ent's in one snapshots and 1024 ent's all on a map when it is a lot of WP on a map has been on the contrary made. And I think this attempt it has gone right.

In game there is a restriction on quantity{amount} of models on a map no more than 1024.
Therefore it is made so, that WP will be visible only in small radius from you - 500 units. Otherwise at plenty WP on a map, game simply to come to the end.
Do not overlook to use a command [noclip] to make game of more various.

I added the .wp file to the updated version of my map, available I think this evening on callofduty.filefront. (You can get it already on other sites e.g. codutility)

Try it out, the bots can go now amost to 'everywhere' and in all directions.

wow what a nice map. unfortunatley it seems a little too ambitious for my computer since it suffers horrible framerate issues, which is too bad because i love all the extra stuff you having going on. it must have taken a great deal of work and time to put that all together. very nice job. oh and nice job on the bots, they owned me since i was running around checking everything out.

Did you use this method?
After putting some bears and toilets in your map and connecting them appropriately, press F5 to dump it to your .wp file. But first it is not a .wp file but there are two other files. I think one of these files is a .tmp. Save them anywhere for BACK-UP and then rename the .tmp (scripdata folder) to .wp and delete the other file. That should work... and after testing, delete the .wp file and copy the two (Back-Up) files back to the scriptdata folder and you can continue setting waypoints ;-)

Using Meatbot on a mac:

To do this, I got a download called: "mods menu"
Download it from here: http://callofduty.filefront.com/file/CoD2_Mods_Menu;57504
When downloaded, put the iwd. file in your Call of Duty 2 'main' folder.

Then download this meatbot 0.7: http://callofduty.filefront.com/file/MeatBot;82505
When finished, put the 'mbot' folder into your 'Call of Duty 2 Data' folder. NOT the 'main' folder.

Start up Call of Duty 2 Multiplayer.
There should be a new button called 'mods'.
Click the 'mods' button.
A window should come up, double-click 'mbot'.

To know that you are in 'mbot' there should be the words 'mbot 0.7' in the bottom left corner of the screen.

Now go to 'select profile' button, and choose the profile, Predattor.
You may need to change the graphics in the profile.

Now you can start your server....

The only stock maps that work with bots at the moment are: Burgundy, Carentan, Rostov, Matamata, Stalingrad and Toujane.

You should bind some keys to add/remove bots....
To do this, press ~ to go to the console. Make sure it is switched on 'yes' in the options menu.
Type these into the console (do them seperately):

bind = addbot allies
bind - removebot allies
bind ] addbot axis
bind [ removebot axis

This makes it so that you can add/remove bots by pressing those buttons.

To make it so that the bots support more maps, download the attached file to this e-mail.
To install the maps unzip the file, put the downloaded 'scriptdata' folder into the 'mbot' folder and replace the old scriptdata folder.

If you want to convert the file with extension dm_1, that it is necessary simply to start the demo and remove the scene by program Fraps.

Can anyone help me, please!

I have followed 'mrman54's instructions for using this on a Mac and all is fine till I get to the "Now go to 'select profile' button, and choose the profile, Predattor." But when I go to the Select Profile window there's no profile for Predattor.

What am I doing wrong! I'm using v0.7. Am I missing something?

Also when you are in the Console how do you make it work? Whenever I type in a command it comes up as a message on the left of the screen but nothing happens! Are all Console commands PC only?

I forgot to say, it works best if you launch the mod from your CoD4 desktop shortcut by adding the following to the command line::

+set fs_game "mods/PeZBOT" +set svr_pezbots 20

E.G.:
"C:Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfareiw3mp.exe" +set fs_game "mods/PeZBOT" +set svr_pezbots 20

The figure at the end of the line (20) is the number of bots to add to a map.

You are supposed to be able to do this also using the Console in the game but i couldn't get it to work.

See the readme.txt file in the zip file for more information. It also includes the authors contact details.

i have don all of the above...... . i even had a clean install of cod2 then isntalled the 1.3 mod..... unpacked the mbot, and when i type in the game to addbot
it still doenst work and sais unknown cmd addbots.......

i tried everything but havent sen one singel rotten bot...
plesae little help here

Hy all!
I created it single new Bots accessory Meabot mod being built on his bases, with many new characteristics and extras.

Extras (characteristics):
- The system waypoints is changed, now it began more flexible
- Bots have learned to jump
- Bots have learned to get and get obstacles (mantle)
- Bots have learned to get on a vertical ladder
- Animation of run of a bot is added
- Animation of a jump and falling downwards is added
- Animation to get through obstacles is added
- Animation to get on a vertical ladder is added
- Now bots recharge the weapon if patrons on zero
- It is added scoring run of bots, a landing, to get on a vertical ladder
- The bug with colliding the player by a bot is corrected
- Bots and you have 999 Grenade
- New menu
- New HUD
- During a game music, when you are growing a level
- Rank system
- New blood, if you destroy somebody
- After the bombshell explosion, new effects
- Bots and you have 999 ammunitions
- KillCam the dying is not late
- New orbits, where the bots they can move, and to throw a bombshell.
- New waypoints(Bots has been on new routes)
- Radar is new
- New binds for example:
- M = Addbot axis
- N = Addbot allies
- I = Removebot allies
- U = Removebot axis
- Starting threshold: 10000 score
- Starting time limit: 45 minutes
- And yet many extras

Who the bots wants to help me to carry out product development, let it write here. I did that the bots is spawn already: CTF, HQ, SD, but I do not know it the wp files to rearrange, that on these the game let them move on types the bots. Let who he interests write a comment plsplspls.

Who explains that Waypoints is needed to prepare, then make, dared even how I make an attempt, I do not understand it, does not save it in wp

A correction, which implies these, comes soon:
Bots used: All Weapons (bar, Bren, SVT 40, PPSh, Shotgun,)
New waypoints: Villers Bocage, Trainyard, Resistance Paris Carentan Ville and more.
Beetles repaired.

This a separate one mod his form appears, but I rewrite it then the basis CoD2

I made a version beta of the almiral mod with all their qualities, 2 weapons, artillery and but. They also leave the German and Russian officials, not alone the cap, also the body, the same as in the game. It sends it here so that they put it but they have not wanted, not you that it would happen

I prepared it MeatBot v0.9 innovating a version, little one mistakes repaired 50 new waypoints, 4 new game types bots can play it, and very very many extras, temporarily only here: FileFront.com, but it is put to the side soon : codfiles.com
