Description:
Here's another 'bot-enabling' mod, which allows server admins to spawn up to 10 bots on their servers. The problem is, of course, that the bots are ridiculously stupid as they've always been, but it's nonetheless useful for modders who wish to test certain things. stick out tongue Anyway, download it now if you want to fool around with these brainless bots! wink

Tally's BOT Mod for COD2
*************************

I created this mod coz I see a lot of people requesting bots on their servers. Although the COD bots are dumb as a door post (and nothing like the AI Bots of CS), they can server a purpose: if your testing a mod, they can be used to see if certain features work or not.

This mod will put up to 10 bots on your server. I have also included instructions on how to change the weapon they spawn with. Doing this can sometimes help when testing things like weapons limiters, and the like.

Works on all gametypes .


CONTENTS:

1 x iwd file.


USE:

place the file bots.iwd in your COD2 'main' folder.

Add the following cvar to your server config:

set scr_testclients "3" //You can have up to 10 bots.

If you dont use a server config file, start up the server, and load a map. then, drop down console and type: set scr_testclients "3"

Then, restart the map (or rotate).


ADVANCED:

If you want to change the weapon which any of the bots spawns with, open the bots.iwd file with something like winrar, and drag the file _teams.gsc to your desktop. Open it with Worpad and go to the bottom of the file. You will see this:

As you can see, I have set it so that the allied bots spawn with a thompson, and axis to spawn with a mp40. Change these values to whatever you require. Close and save the file and replace the _teams.gsc file in my mod.

i have done what the author said to do and it doesnt seem to work. I tried adding set scr_testclients "3" // to the config_mp file and noting happens in mp. I also tried typing set scr_testclients "3" while in game, but it simply comes up as a chat (im using the ` to bring down the console)...am i doing something wrong? why doesnt it work?!?!?

I got it to work fine... Extracted the file to my main folder then typed seta scr_testclients "10" into my mp.cfg it worked fine... as the author has written in the readme you need to type "set" but you need to put "seta" lol Hope that helps...

i tried typing seta rather than set and puttting a in front of it. i restart the map and .....nothing is different. the bots do show up when you press tab, right? im stumped and want to be able to play mp (even with dumb bots) b/c i have a really crappy dial up connection and cant play otherwise....i want this mod to work!!!

try running your server with a server config file. download a sample one here:

http://www.atku49.dsl.pipex.com/downloads/cod2_server.zip

Add the line for the bots to it, place it in the cod2 'main' folder. Now start up a server with any map. When in the map, drop down consolde and type:

forwardslash/exec dedicated

Press enter. The map will change as the server is configured by the file dedicated.cfg

i downloaded that file and added seta scr_testclients "10" to it (does it matter where you put this in that file?) and renamed the file to dedicated.cfg. once i load a map i can type /exec dedicated.cgf and it appears to load a new map. however...about halfway through i get a iwd sum / mismatch error...help...

Well i did it differently and it works.... download the file.. extract it to your /main directory then in config_mp file add the line seta scr_testclients "10" or whatever number you want.. save it. Then run multiplayer and start a new server make sure it isnt pure so set that to "no" start the game and you should have bots smile

if you get the name sum mismatch error, try renaming the bots.iwd file to zzz_bots.iwd.

i added zzz_ to the filename and it works!!! the bots arent much, but their erratic motions make for fun target practice...lol

yep, 999 is normal - and they are funny. try having them on while real players are on the server. We use them on one of our clan 'fun' nights. We turn FF on so everyone can kill the bots.

shouldnt affect you, but you never know with COD2. If you are at all worried, take out the mod before going on line. this is a server side mod, if a server runs it, the client isnt required to have the files.

hi

i have added all the command lines but no bots appear, i have tried reloading the maps and stil nothing, and entering into the console. i managed to load up tally2's sample file i added the line to that to, i can load this up but when it loads there are no bots stil. confused

is the mod in the cod2 'main' folder? if so, rename it to zzz_bots.iwd, then try again.

Yes the mod is in the main folder, and i just did as you suggested and still no bots.

I have entered the command line into the dedicated sample file, and the config mp in the IWN folder, as the config mp in the main folder in my profile alwayas changed back after i add the command line, is this correct

For the dedicated file i have this : ( i also have tried seta)
set scr_testclients "10"

In the config mp i have :
seta scr_testclients "10"

snot working for me. i get the iwd sum/name mismatch thing. i renamed the bots.iwd to zzz_bots.iwd

now, ive noticed there are two config_mp.
there is one in main-->players--> etc, and then there is one in sgmod-->players--. etc.
so i added the extra stuuf in both.

can someone tell me what i am doing wrong???

Hey tally ive noticed something... as the allies spawn with thompsons when you play against russians they seem to spawn with no weapons... unless you put in an all weapons mod or something lol frown So you put how to change weapons in there.. but do you have any idea if you can spawn random weapons? So many people had difficulties with this mod that Im releasing a better version soon

It will include extra features etc, but the major thing will be getting it to work properly.

If you get iwd sum/name mismatch and zzz_bots.iwd doesn't fix this, do this:

In your .cfg go to where you see // Anti Cheat Settings

Under this there are 4 things:
set sv_disableClientConsole "1"
set cl_autocmd "0"
set sv_cheats "0"
set sv_pure "1"

To fix the issue, change set sv_pur "1" to set sv_pure "0"

I finally got it working i changed the name so it had zzz_ in it and then started a game did the command /set scr_testclients "10" and it only loaded up one bot i tried it again noting happened can you help?

its a good mod but can you improve the A.I? so they dont keep running into walls if not its still a great mod when i get this problem sorted

there is a team currently working on 'intellegent bots'

I would point out this mod will NOT work with the patch. it has the old gametype files.

IW has opened an official feedback forum. Request official (smarter) MP bots here, and whatever else. This is the best chance we have of getting an official and good bot, lets not waste it.

the patch screwed up multiplayer a lot frown great mod, dumb bots (that doesnt matter) and now we need SP levels to come Beer! Beer!

Hey, i got bots to load but they are not joining teams just spectating. tried changing the weapons to rifles but not sure what the correct name for a kar98 would be. i added kar98_mp but bots still spectate.

I saw napa didn't know the designations for the multiplayer weaponry, so I made an almost complete listing of all the weapons in the game. They aren't sorted by team. Here you are:

Hi, my config_mp file in my profile doesnt allow me to open it, where must i tyype in the seta scr_serverclients "10". I have tryed to type that command with / befor it and nothing happends, i tryed restarting the mapa nd nothingh happends, when i save a server config i made through ur programme ^^^, i click save and i dont know what to do with that saved file, this is *****ing bull***** sally, i stayed awake till 2am in the *****ing morning and i couldnt gtet it to work, i DID EVERYTHING u told me to do above^^..I AM ASKING PLEASE!!!!! This mod does work thanks for the effort you must have put in, I had a couple of issues at first but the mod WORKS!!!! try enabling the Allow Downloading on the client machine. from reading the comments above I think it's worth mentioning that this runs on a dedicated linux COD2server you can't add this mod to you game install and expect the same results Roll Eyes (sarcastic) sorry if i'm pointing out the obvious but this is the internet after all!

This guy actually has bots shooting at you.

In later versions (in later pages) you can actually have bots on both Allied and Axis, moving around, and shooting at you. Currently only one map is supported.

This is heartwarming news, good luck guys on perfecting this!! smile

works fine great job like allways. When the map switches the current bots go to spectators and the same amount of bots join. Which makes the bots double. Also when you kick the bots they are still counted as being on the server. There client number is still in use. So eventually the server gets full even if you kick all the bots.

Anyway you can address these issues maybe even consider a bot_minplayer type of system. So if you use 6 bots once 6 people are on the server all the bots are gone auto.

If any of these issues can be solved by some commands I am listening big grin

can SOMEONE make a mp bot mod where they have a brain? they need ai.also make sure u can set a bot level like easy med hard.
try to make a bot mod where the bots
take cover
-use different weapons
-use team work
-stable walking lol
-throw grenades in places that u cant escape
-dodge bullets
-jump
-use ladders
-prone or crouch
-realistic accuracy instead of constant annoying headshots
-use voice overs
-cant see u all the time
-have names like "R.E.D.123"

Please someone reply to this request....

Hi!
I have got version 1.2 , what version do you need for this bot mod? I have played bots servers on version 1.3 but I can't find bot mods for that. Does this mod just work on version 1.1? If so could you make it compatible with version 1.2 or 1.3 . Or is there a way to change my version from 1.2 to 1.1??
Please Tally, can you help me? Or do you know any other websites that have Bot Mod's for version 1.2 and up.

The right thing to do in cod2 to avoid problems such as the game running smoothly is to keep maintain the main folder of the game clean.if your knowledge doesnt go further about consoles rcon's and servers, than im offering my self to teach you, the same way i've learned from others.What i mean is to always remove the unwanted maps and mods and so on from the main folder of the game.(to find the main folder of the game, you go to: START after MY COMPUTER than you find D/: drive, double click and you will see probably a games folder.If you aint got one than try PROGRAM FILES find call of duty 2 folder, than double click than you must see a main folder.In the folder there are some IDW files.To delete the right ones you have to speak with me via e-mail so i will send you the right list with only the necesary files of the game that make it run properly.Then if you download a mod witch i rather think you will choose to download to make the game more interesting, than goes something like this: 1.most of mods are unzipped and extracted to my documents or, another temporary file place for saving goodies.the reason!!! because theres no reason a read file to be in a main folder of the game.the only thing you need is the IDW file of the mod.For example if the IDW file its name is iw_firenades_mod.iwd for instance than it means the file will be placed by it self in the main folder.Than you start the multiplayer game cod2 and there you go....you got some beatiful grenades that are more powerfull than the normal ones and you enjoy your game. If you download a map the file will look to your eyes sort of like this mp_bastogne.iwd. Thats a new map.you do the same thing.copy and paste only the map mp_bastogne.iwd file in to the main game folder.For begginers on mods i would recomend them to download zzzz_mods_menu.iwd from here or simply search for mods menu.Thats a nice courtesy by a nice fella who did a tight job and you dont have to copy paste all the time to change mod of the game. Remember, run the mods one at a time and than make some expiraments to see witch modes you download get along with each other in the main folder and dont conflict ;o) mostly sound mods will make you some troubles so my advice is to run the game with ONE MOD AT A TIME and than the little expirament we talked about. I hoped i helped little bit and make sure you always read the read file of the mod you download for some exeptions.

PS: always talking to a simple language for people who dont know that much about this stuff but they just want to play....

hello. i have install the bots on to my call of duty 2. and it realy works. But it is very boring playing with these bots. they dont shoot well and they dont move around much. But it can be fun just for target shooting. Is it possible you can make it better? Something like a bot who can shoot well and move around alot and low ping on those bots. hello, i think that i have tryed every possable way ther is to try and get this to work, first i put the file into the main folder....then i had probs with that so i fixed it with the zzz _. i started the level fine got the console down typed /set scr_testclients "9" , then typed /map_restart . the map restarted fine but still no bots (i also tryed /seta scr_testclients "9" ). second i went to the config file i found in my profile (config_mp.cgf) typed in the lin set scr_testclients "9" . started up the game stil nothing (also tryed seta scr_testclients "9"wink. then i tryed all of that i had alredy doen but with pure off. then i tryed the dedicated.cgf thing but it automaticly made a new config_mp. i think that i have nearly tryed everything posable. IF ANY 1 COULD SPEND HALF AN HOUR HELPING ME THAT WOULD BE MOST APRECIATED MY EMAIL IT jessenoway@hotmail.com also that is my msn so if any 1 could write to me or ad me on msn that would be grate ...thanks all

i figured it out!! i spent hours trying to get this to work and i finally did and ill tell u all how. 1st i put the file in my main cod2 folder. then renamed it zzz_bots. i started up the game. went to multiplayer options and DISABLED punkbuster. started a new server with pure turned OFF. started it up on Carantan typed this EXACTLY: /set scr_testclients 10. and it worked right away i didnt even have to restart the map. only problem is it will only let me be a spectator. i dont know y this happens but if anyone figures out the problem please let me know about it.

Hi everyone,
I check this site mosts days (have done for a very long time) and am always amazed that the Tally Bot Mod (for CoD2) is constantly in the Top 10 most downloaded files.

So... I want to make everyone aware of another bot mod for CoD2 called MeatBot which is 100 times... no... 1000 times better than the Tally Bot mod (sorry Tally, but it is true).

You can download MeatBot using this link:

This mod came out mid 2007 and was developed by a Russian team. It is nothing short of amazing. The mod has an inbuilt waypoint system that enables the bots to navigate the maps really well, they can also climb ladders, climb over walls, throw grenades and more.

Just download the mod and extract it to your CoD2 installation folder. Turn off PunkBuster.
I start the game (with the mod running) using a Desktop shortcut with the path:
"D:Call of Duty 2CoD2MP_s.exe" +set fs_game MBot_sound_final +exec mbot.cfg

The bit of the path that points to the game executable will have to be modified to where your copy of the game is located.

If forgot to say.... the download link I provided in my post above is to the best version of the mod. It includes a sound mod so the bots have battle chatter and death cries etc.

Meatbot is the ultimate CoD2 bot, great time fighting these guys!

Shame that v.07 is the final, would love to have seen CTF in there as well. Honestly I'm just glad that I can boot up CoD2 with some bots now. Two Thumbs Up!
