This is NOT the correct way to start a map..showing you incorrect way to start a room. Here is the correct way:

Bobzilla, I have just checked his tutorial and it's completely fine. The link you supplied actually gives a worse way as it incorporates rotate, which could lead to some compile problems if used incorrectly.

thanks for obvious error in showing Sturgeon way of building maps..
Rotation is somewhat of a dark horse in both cod and moh radient and you never know when it will crash the program. As far as this tut by DeepSix..it starts a beginner out on the wrong foot (as noted my DeepSix..this tut is someone who knows nothing about mapping or radient), caulking is important and should have been mentioned, also if you see his brushes, he is overlapping two brushes..which is not the proper way to build a room, and will later cause flashing and poorer fps. This tutorial only scratches on the surface on getting a room built satisfactory, and I would rather see this tut deleted than start a new mapper in a totally wrong direction. Just my 2cents..
I have made 25 maps, all from Radient, all playing on server today, and have taught 5 others to map in 3 different foreign countries.

I agree that overlapping brushes are not something desired when mapping, but remember, this is just for true beginners. I'd rather see some overlapping brushes than have brushes that give compiler errors. As mappers progress, they will learn to avoid and clean up their mapping.

Don't try and awe me with your collection of maps until you reach 47 maps. wink
