Is Call of Duty its own series?

What is this game?
Call of Duty is a first person shooter which puts you in the middle of WWII.
When did this game come out?
Fall 2003.
Is there a training missions?
Yes.
What do you do in Call of Duty?
There are three campaigns: American, British, and Russian. You fight as three different soldiers, each in their own country, from all the way in Normandy to Berlin.
Are these campaigns connected at all?
Yes.
How many levels are in the game?
24. Give or take a few here and there.
Is it true that you get to play in different Army's?
Yes. You get to fight for the Americans, the Russians, and the British.
Who do you play as?
You play as three different people during the different campaings.
What weapons do you use?

Like the game “America’s Army”, you will be able to use the scope for more accuracy. You can also ADS (aim down the sights) on all of the weapons.
How realistic is this game?
Compared to nowadays, not very. But for 2003, it was way ahead of it's time.
Does Call of Duty have blood?
A little.

All through Europe.
Can you command a squad of guys in this game?
No. But you will be part of a squad a lot of times.
I read a lot of war stuff and this/that is not 100% realistic? Why?
For the sake of gameplay, many things have to be dropped for the sake of balanced gameplay.

Yes.
Are there weather effects?
Not really. There are a few snow effects, but nothing major.
Can I control Mounted Machine Guns and Anti Aircraft guns and stuff?
Mounted machine guns? Yes. Anti-aircraft guns? On certain levels you can.
Can I drive a tank?
Yup.
Can I fly a plane?
No. Sorry.
Were can I get some cheats?

any sniper weapons?
Yes, there´ll realy be a sniper weapon. It´s called FK32 or something like this. You can use it in the Demo version, too. Some Axis player use it. You just habe to take it from them  )))
its called fg-42 and a british sniper rifle seen in a short movie. Dont know its name. Think a american too of course
when i try to install it says could not initialize installation because the files size is to big
when i try to install it a black Dos box comes up for a split second before shutting down - something to do with the file being too big??? i have 20 gig of hard disk space and 512 mb ram!

And can you then tell me what sounds are real that are used in this game because my friend and i are making a sound mod for Wolfenstine Enemy Territory and we want to include all real sounds into that mod we have two at the moment or more i think that are real sounds. We want to use the sounds in COD if they are real or come very cloase to the real sounds in our mod and we will include you in our credits. how do u update to directx 9 ive downloaded it and it still says that my video card has a problem. how do you delete the old drivers
You probably need a newer vid card. Alot of older ones will not support dx9
Ok heres my prob, I have the latest drivers with DirectX 9.0b and 120GB HD, 1024 DDR RAM, Geforce4 MX440 (with the latest drivers from Nvidia) ,Athlon2.13GHz and one confused person that is really *****ed off!!! I installed the game and when I run the app all I see is a blank screen with the new game, load game and option Icons. I click on new game and nothing happens, I have configed my Graphics card front and back as per activision support. Anyone have a similar prob or a remedy for this quagmire?
if you have any mods in the main directory try taking them out: the work only for the demo

I too have a Herclues Kyro 4000XT Graphics Card, and my C.of D. crashes at the same point as post #18 above.

I downloaded the dawnville demo and when I install it on my computer it has a error at 30% it says

If you lookon the system requirements ON THE BOX before you buy the game then you wouldnt have that problem now would you. 32 MB GFX card is very cheap now. I needed a card so i could play BF1942 so i went out and bought a GeForce 2 at Best Buy for 50 dollars. If you can't run this game you need a new card or just a new PC. ALSO ON THE BOX IT SAYS WHAT GFX CARDS ARE COMPATABLE WITH CoD. SO TO THE HERCULES PEOPLE YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK

Hello. I've bought Call of Duty some weeks ago, but I still can't play it online, I've tried a reinstallation, but it does nothing.
My problem is the following:
When I start Single Player everything just goes like it is supposed to be. But when I want to switch to multiplayer/ start Multiplayer directly without first starting Single Player, I do see the little screen telling: 'Call of Duty Multiplayer' but then the game crashes. I don't know how to get rid of this, it just doesn't open the Multi Player menu.

I have a Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse. They both function great with the game. My problems with the game are with unexpected lockups and crashes. It forces my system to reboot unexpectedly. If it would play more consistently, it would be a great game.
I open call of duty multiplayer and click on Server list and it never loads it says "Waiting for response from master server" and thats it it does nothing. I have to computers both connected to the internet through a router I use a cable connection. I have gone to the Activision website and searched and they said to do some things but i did them all and it still wont load the server list

and i am encountering this error everytime i host my lan game and the map restarts after time runs out or max points are reached. The server then tries to restart the map and then crashes and at the main page this error is posted? This happened after i downloaded some new maps, yet this occurs even when i am not playing the new maps, like for instance when i am playing carentan. Is there anything i can do to fix this?

for some users, downgrading driver drivers seems to work also.

First you need go to downloads-maps. Then you select a map of your choice, then choose a mirror.
If download has finished unzip the file, and paste the pk3 in your main folder of cod. There's probably a readme in the zip file. Read it!
Do you guys have the same problem? Sometimes it's hard to see the crosshair. That makes it difficult to aim!!

to run HERCULES cards download the KYRO drivers from power VR web site this worked for me
I had problems with my Hercules graphics card but downloaded the kyro drivers from PowerVr web site and the game ran fine 
I downloaded maps and put them in my main cod folder.Is that right?I can host on if i pick it from the list but when it cycles map it goes back to stock ones.Even when i did exec server_tdm.cfg.If anyone could tell me what folder or if i have to do something different.Thanks for your time

I allready uninstalled my older version of my video card driver, downloaded and installed the newest driver for my video card from its site and installed
Direct X 9 and the game produces the same error when I start it.

G'day. Intro movie plays with sound, but when game starts there is no sound. i have Creative SB 5.1 sound card & MSI GeForce 4 MX440 NVIDA card. This happens every time I get a disconnection from Bigpond cable while in the middle of a MP game.
When I try and reenter after reconnection to Bigpond I also get a message saying that COD did not exit properly and would I like to run the game in safe mode.......
If I say yes or no it goes to the above CoDMP.exe problem and then returns me to the desktop. The desktop too is all super bright and can only re returned to normal with a shutdown and restart.....
Any suggestions on how to fix this....?
i have just installed call of duty and everytime i get onto the main menu all the options are covered (in red letters) UNLOCALIZED ,i have about a year ago, installed it succesfully. and when i try to get onto the game it says 1014 some of the sound files were not installed or are in a bad format please! help me.
In MP Call of Duty with 1.31 patch installed or whatever it is, i open the file and it comments on how i did not shut the game down properly, and it gives me the option whether to change to safe mode, i have tried both and i get the same result, by returning to my desktop with a very bright desktop, if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this issue with cod could you please reply to this post or email me at coganj@student.jpc.qld.edu.au

Ahaha. Jeepinator Yes it does state on the box what Graphics Cards are compatible with it, but it also doesn't state that alot of Cards on the box that are stated to be compatible infact encounter many screw ups and runtime Errors. I recommend not even buying the game, encounters so many problems you spend the first month after the purchase just trying to get it working, I'm willing to sacrifice gaming quality and graphics for a decent game on MOH without getting *****ty ***** errors, any way that's how I feel, if you feel different you can blow me.
Is there a limit on how many maps that you can have in the main directory of COD? I have downloaded several maps recently to try, but several of the maps do not appear in the map list. How do I load these maps, if I can't see it in the list?
When i want to start a new server he always give me the script compile error. Possible it's something stupid but i havent been able to solve the problem yet. Can somebody help me.

Referring to post #70, I had this same thing happen to me. I finally fixed it by going into my Call of Duty folder, and removing the file servercache. I figured something from the server I'd been on had corrupted my cache file, and apparently I was right. COD started up just fine after this. Of course, this meant I had to re-enter my Favorites list, but at least I got COD working again.

I've been having problems with delay during my multiplayer rounds. It's usually around a 2-3 second delay but always results in my immediate death during split-second gun battles. I've updated all the drivers to my GeForce FX 5700 but the problem still occurs. I'm *****uming it's my horrible DSL connection, but I was hoping for a second opinion. Thanks for any help!

i downloaded some skins for my game and the insrtuctions to install said ''move the pk.3 file into the call of duty main folder'' so i clicked on the pk.3 file and also clicked ''move'' and moved it to a folder under call of duty named ''main'' i started the game and the skins didn't work where did i go wrong?,did i miss a step?

I am having the same problem as post #'s 79,80 and 90. I installed CoD fine and then installed the 1.4 patch and I also get the "insert correct disc" error. This is a major bummer. Can anyone direct me to a possible fix?
I posted item #99 above and found the solution, also i made a typo it wasn't post #79 it was #78.
The FIX:
I had the same problem and it turned out to be CloneCD. If you have a copy of that installed with or without drive emulation, you will get that error. I had DaemonTools installed as well. I had uninstalled that 1st as it was the only virtual drive I had running, but the error persisted. I also have Nero 6 installed without the virtual drive. So the problem seems to be CloneCD as stated above. I've also read that Alcohol 120 will cause the error, but i don't use that and can't vouch for that. In most if not all cases where the discs are fine it's CloneCD. I'm guessing that it's due to the Safedisc version, but i'm not sure. Enjoy playing this MOHAA update, it's sweet.

i modified the fg42 file on my game to make it stronger on multiplayer i have it with 200 damage to be powerful. I play with friends through LAN. My computer stays at the server. i noticed that after changing the fg42 to be more powerful, the weapon is as powerful on other computers who join my server. Why? How can i make a weapon more powerful on a computer server and the same weapon less powerful on other that joins my server?

when try to play multiplayer, I hit refresh list and it says waiting for responce from master server and wont give me a server list. Obviously its a security issue on my computer. I tried disconnecting the router and turned off the firewall but to no avail. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!
I put the mods in the main folder. Everything there is fine but when i click on it it says Windows doesnt recognize what program made the mod. It then puts me on the internet to find out but that gets me nowhere. If anyone could tell me how to fix that, you would make my day.

I've downloaded some cools scope and crosshair mods, but they don't work on multiplayer. I've tried a range of servers, from punkbuster w/ and w/o mods to non-punkbusters w/ and w/o mods. They work fine in single player.

I've been playing UO for quite some time. I reinstalled it and I ran the 1.51 patch and in mp mode I now get stuck on "Waiting for response from Master Server" can anyone help???
I get this error, Runtime Error C++ Abnormal Programme Termination, with a Geforce 5250 and 5700 video card when I try to play Call of Duty Multiplayer. My 64 Mbyte MX440 works fine. I need to upgrade to play MOH Pacific *****ault, which works great with the new card, but COD won't go. I've tried scrubbing and reloading XP, New drivers, old drivers, downloading and installing new runtime library, everything I can think of and still nuthin'. Can anyone help? Thanks, Joe

Everytime i find a server and join it it always says Error: couldn't load player animation mp/playeranim.script i asked a few people but noone knows, is it only me? Is there a way to fix this error so i can play?
Whenever i try to get into a server in COD it always says: couldn't load player animation script mp/playeranim.script..and in call of duty united offensive i cant see crap except outlines..it says cannot read shader types 'shadertypes/2d/hud.stype' how do i fix both these games to where i can play?

Upon enabling Punkbuster in multiplayer mode, I get a crash after about 15 seconds of play stating "Losing Key Packets". I've tried disabling firewalls, different router configurations, clean installs of the game, and applying the code "pb_security 0" while playing... multiple times. Does anybody have an idea what is going on?

When you click on icon for REVOLT and it says something like cannot find it or its unknown, well just right click on it and go down to properties-go to the place where it says target and make sure it is going to your call of duty folder.
I have the Call of Duty game of the Year Edition and the target said Call of Duty. So I changed the part where it said Call of Duty and put Call of Duty game of the Year Edition (That is my Call of Duty Main folder) And it worked! So if u have a diffrent main folder then Call of Duty- you have to change it to your main folder.
I did this with Revolt, Heat of the Battel, and GFM didn't need to do it.
I cant seem to run this. I have downloaded it from several sources but all i get is an error message telling me unpure client detected. Invalid.pk3 files referenced

None of the MX Series video cards have the 2.0 shaders so they wont work very well...all the cod games are built to perform best with nvidia cards. The minimum card you should use is the FX 5600 ULTRA 128mb..a better card is the FX 5700 Le Overclocked 256 mb....if youre not buying a 6800 or better, stay away from the 6600 series the performance you gain is very little compared to the 5600 or 5700 and really not worth the cost difference...once in a server you will need to set your hunkmegs,maxpackets,and max frames per second or maxfps..setting hunkmegs uses some of your system ram ro help process the video and helps quite a bit,set this for 2/3 or your system ram but not more than 700.(a system running a gig of ram or more can be set at 700..if youre ram is 512 set it for 340
maxpackets is 30 for default if youre on cable or dsl you can set it for between 80-100 and maxfps should be 125 the defaultis 80 this is for all the COD games....Good Luck with your Games anymore questions...post them here Ill respond...Thank you

ok found the answer, G_MODEllNDEX: OVERFLOW only happens when you cheat in the game, eg : give all it's crashing because you alreadyhave the weapon or blowen up the tank before hand, the only way to fix it is to redo all the game again with out cheating. and it willbe fixed

my original copy of cod disk 1 was broken by my kids. so i went to the store and bought another copy and installed it. every since then i have had trouble playing multi player games. 1st it told me that i was playing on something different than 1.5. i installed all kinds of patches to get the thing to play in which i still cannot play on x-fire i can only play through my multi player option. that doesn't bother me what bothers me is now it give me a kick for invalid pk3 file. how can i fix that? can you help me so i can enjoy some more online multi player action? thanks.

bit of a crazy question but why is there a capping on the dvar sv_timeout (1800 seconds) were as in cod /uo there isnt any capping ?
is there a way of overidding the maximum 1800 seconds ?
many of you probably are asking why i use this,but i find its an extremly useful tool in building up traffic on your server,it keeps players locked in your server who disconnect in between maps thus making your server seem more busier.

umm, i just reformatted my laptop from vista to XP, and installed all the appropriate programs and such, everything works real slick and great, but call of duty uo isn't working as it should. its super super laggy when i face myself across the map. when i'm looking at a wall, or the floor, it seems to work great, whats my problem?
my system far exceeds requirments, and i've tried turning down all the graphics settings, i cant figure this one out.
please help!
