I don't get CoD's for the multiplayer anymore since UO. I will surely try out the MP a little and have semi-fun for like... 2 hours. But ultimately it will just suck because nothing compares to UO still!

I was hoping they realised that console games ported to pc are failures, but I guess money speaks louder!

It's a sad day when I have to hope Call of Duty fails. Regardless of all the haters, I loved United Offensive and Call of Duty 2, Modern Warfare and World at War were great too-I've put thousands of hours into multiplayer with every Call of Duty title(I even built new gaming rigs for most of them). We'll see what all these polls and petitions mean after the release.Two Thumbs Down!

I'm not going to buy the game. I think the main failure of Activision was to set it in the present. As I said, I'm a great fan of WW2 warfare. I love CoD WaW, so i think they should have make an expansion pack for it, instead of a whole new game. I believe that CoD 5 has a lot of non-exploted possibilities. Some new sp missions would be great (specially playing as the axis), but in all the map packs, they only included mp maps (and zombie maps, wich are not so good as sp). I think they went too fast to CoD 6, they should have improved CoD 5 a little more first.

The single player will rock but its deffinetly not worth the money (60$wink for a few hours of fun and then just throw it away. I Mean its the online gaming that gives u fun even after u had it for several months/years.

I think i'll get it, but for now I'll keep it to the Singleplayer.
After all the lousy things I heard about IW's plans for the MP, I don't want to play this game online anymore.
But from the things I saw in the Trailers, the SP must be a real must-play.
I never saw something as brilliant as that.

Cant play 4 or 5 because of all the hacks. Will be nice to be able to play again. Any negative view would come from those that ruined COD.

A waste of time bringing this out on PC now everyone knows they have no intention of supporting any dedicated servers or mods. I will not be buying it, and I know loads more people who have said they will not.

If you must buy this - then wait until it's in the bargain bin.

Alex Serenatas has just submitted some news to us from CVG.com take a look, it's all about different pay models for Call of Duty:

Activision says you should "expect" paid-for online models such as those in World of Warcraft to make the transition to other games, including Call of Duty.

Speaking during yesterday's BMO Capital Markets Conference (which sounds fun), Activision Blizzard CFO, Thomas Tippl said that while WoW's model is difficult to replicate, players should expect new monetization models for its other games soon.

"It's definitely an aspiration that we see potential in, particularly as we look at different business models to monetize the online gameplay," said Tippl. "There's good knowledge exchange happening between the Blizzard folks and our online guys."

"We have great experience also on Call of Duty with the success we had on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. A lot of that knowledge is getting actually built into the Battle.Net platform and the design of that," he added.

"I think it's been mutually beneficial, and you should expect us to test and ultimately launch additional online monetization models of some of some of our biggest franchises like Call of Duty."

According to the Activision CFO, there is a demand from its core fanbase to pay for additional services.

"Our gamers are telling us there's lots of services and innovation they would like to see that they're not getting yet. From what we see so far, additional content, as well as all the services Blizzard is offering, is that there is demand from the core gamers to pay up for that," he said.

Modern Warfare 2 has set the new sales record, selling 4.7 million copies just in North America and the UK in 24 hours, this beats GTA IV, and it isn't full known how many copies they have sold in other countries, it could be even more, even to an extent which one could predict as 8 million copies.

Well I popped out after work this afternoon and decided to buy a copy of Modern Warfare 2 for the PS3. I was excited but didn't have that passion to open the game straight after I bought it, after all the 'hype-down' we've had for the PC version, I was hoping rather than knowing that my money was well spent.

I started off with the campaign, to be honest, you don't get the storyline at the start, in CoD4 you got it in the first intro part, which I thought was fantastic. In this one, all you get is a 'flashback' type of introduction to what happened in the last game. What does that tell me? That they can't match the storyline for CoD4, to be honest, who can? It was great, I'm only 4 missions through but the storyline is nowhere as near developed as CoD4 was.

I've played the mission where you have to shoot down all the innocent people at the airport, from my point of view, I have no idea what government ministers in the UK and others elsewhere around the world too, are talking about. The violence shown is quite, well, violent. But isn't that what you expect from a game that's rated '18'. I bet that one person will complain, then 4,000 other people will complain even though they don't even have the game because they feel like they WOULD be duly offended. It has the same amount of violence and I would argue less violence than any of the Grand Theft Auto games, heck, when I was bored I used to go and shoot up the airport for fun.

Anyway, moving away from the politics, because that's not what we're here for, let's turn our attention to the graphics. As many predicted, the graphics are awesome, with brilliantly skinned and modelled units. If modding were allowed for the PC, I'm sure we would have been seeing some great mods coming to fruition but the PC aspect is a completely different story. I would just like to remind people that I'm playing MW2 on a PS3, which has a gold HDMI cable which I hooked up to my downstairs TV to test it out which is a 47 inch 1080p LCD HDTV... As you can imagine I only wish I could play on it forever and ever and ever... I have also tried it on my 22 inch 1080p LCD HDTV upstairs too and it's still great, only a little smaller.

Now for the gameplay, the controls are the same so expect no less in functionality, singleplayer aspects are good but as mentioned above, not as good as the original Modern Warfare. I have been on multiplayer and it's great for consoles, small lobbies are better for consoles, to which I would argue this game has been catered for and the PC version is basically a direct rip of the console version, arguably why they took out all the extras they had in CoD4 for the PC version.

All the old utilities are there, apart from the fact that now in multiplayer when you unlock your next rank up, you can choose whether or not to display that new rank, I guess if you're in a clan match or having some fun with some people (basically 'noob bashing') you'll have a whale of a time. The maps are ok, some are very squashed, many argue that's great for a small match-up but it's really not, you just go round in circles tackling the enemy at the same point over and over again, which can get boring.

All the old kill streaks are the same, apart from when you call your care package guy throws a smoke, indicating where your package should go, so use it carefully and don't throw it inside buildings (sounds obvious but 3 guys done it in my first online match and received no package). The 5th kill streak is now a 'Predator', like an air strike you control exactly where you want the missile to go from a laptop, don't worry, your soldier has it...

I'm yet to try the custom missions as I've been pretty pre-occupied with the first two I've mentioned above, but all in all for the PS3, it's a great game and I would recommend it to anyone who has a PS3 or an xbox360. However for the PC, I'm still not sure, I'm very much reserved on the issue but with all the 'extras' gone that we had in CoD4, we have to call them extras now as they're not given to us with MW2, I don't know if it would be a worthwhile purchase in the long run.

I'm only going to rate it out of 10 for consoles not for PC, so here's the rating:

8.5/10 - Some people say I may be generous here, but it's a great game, the only thing missing from becoming a 9 or even more is that intense storyline that got everyone captured in CoD4. Without playing it, just based on the lack of 'extras' for PC, it's definitely lower than 7 in my honest opinion.

I would encourage everyone to review it as well, it can for xbox360, PC (we would love to have one of those) and even for PS3 too!

It seems Direct 2 Drive and Stardock Impulse will not be selling Modern Warfare 2, due to 3rd party clients that are required to play the game. Further info below:

As the release of Modern Warfare 2 is tomorrow, we'd like to see and hear your thoughts on the up and coming game. And if you do buy it tomorrow, why not even submit a first glimpse of the game, like a small review of what you think of Modern Warfare 2. Here are some questions you may be willing to look at:

Has it improved on the original Modern Warfare, gameplay wise?
How are the graphics compared to other good FPS's?
Are the missions challenging?
Is the storyline (so far) good?
If you have tried going online, what are your first impressions?

Please note that this doesn't just apply to PC games, I'm buying and playing it predominantly on the PS3, but testing maps and mods on the PC. So tell us what you think, it could be a review of the game, or even a pre-view by just seeing what you see in the screenshots and what information has been given already. I have noticed a lot of MW2-sceptics so now it's your chance to speak out (despite that you've already done so stick out tongue).

We are always looking for feedback from members and staff about the service we provide here on the Network. Sometimes this feedback is given in some very strange places instead of direct to us and as a result is either missed completely or mistaken for bitching at something else. To combat that we are opening the floor upto everyone to say what they think about the Network both good and bad.
This is a Network wide post so if you do wish to discuss a specific site then say which site you are referring to.
This will remain open for 1 week and at the end of that week a select few will be invited into our Vent server to discuss it further. This will give direct access to the NA's along with our managers who will be there to answer questions. This may then be recorded and made available to download.

As with any debate on this scale there are rules. These rules must be observed or your post will be deleted and in extreme cases you may be banned for the duration of the debate.
The rules
1) Observe all standard Network rules.
2) Be concise in your posts. Simply saying something sucks or I agree is not going to have your opinion noticed.
3) Post as much info as you can to put your point across and if possible include a example.
4) Be polite to other members even if you do not agree with them.
5) Be patient when waiting for a reply if you ask a question. We don't have all the answers but we will do our best to find them for you.

I don't think so. I'm a fan of WW2 warfare, but modern warfare... I don't know. The game will surely have excellent effects and graphics, but I think I'll stay with CoD WaW. I haven't played CoD4 yet (but I think I will, just to see what it has), and I don't know if MW2 will run in my pc, anyways.

BestBuy had an interview with Infinity War staff Mackey, Vince and Ryan. They asked them multiple questions but the one that catches the eye of most of the multiplayer fanatics are the decision to cap multiplayer games to a maximum of 18 players, 9 each side.

Looks like most of the questions we were urging to know has been revealed since the news that this game was in development. Most of you are disappointed at some of the features of the game, but I guess we'll have to wait till we can fully rate it next Tuesday when the game is finally released.

ADDED a mod.arena file to the mod to reduce materials loaded that were not needed from the users/server usermaps directory etc..

Notes: Some options were removed from the OW1.6.2's Config files, make sure to use the config files provided at release of NAM:WAW v1.1 to avoid any issues. Please post any bugs/comments/suggestions in the proper forum at http://www.CODUtility.com.

Good news ladies & gents: Treyarch is working on patch 1.7 for COD: WAW, so for those of you who still love to shoot Nazi Zombies (which I enjoy myself wink), please feel free to read below for info on what to expect smile

Good news – the team here at Treyarch are preparing a 1.7 patch to wrap up a few of the lingering issues surrounding the PC version of the game. Here’s a snippet from the 1.7 readme:

* Fixed a voice chat crash on systems with no default recording device selected.
* Fixed an issue causing erroneous duplicate qport errors.
* Server admins can disable team switching by setting g_allow_teamchange to 0. Players will be restricted to Auto-Assign in team-based gametypes.

The team is just putting the finishing touches on it before sending it off to QA for testing. No ETA is planned yet, but I’ll update when I get better clarity on its progress.

Depends on what the bunker was made of. If it was made of metal or anything that conducts electricity, I wound just sit outside and use a tesla weapon to electrocute the 40 terrorists.
On the other had, if I could get in unnoticed, I wound pour water on all of the floors and cut a wire that was still plugged in... You can guess what happens next. Devil!

.Force players to select autoassign by deactivating the Allies or Axis options

.Time to start the autobalance process after showing the message to the players

- CLAN VS REST OF THE WORLD SETTINGS

.Team that "rest of the world" players will be forced into

- TEAM KILL MONITOR

.Duration of the punishment (some punishments do not use this time)
.Controls whether multiple teamkills using grenades or explosives should count as one or not

- SERVER LOAD

.Module that extends how variables can be set. The server administrator can add "_low", "_medium", or "_high" at the end of the variables allowing him/her to control variables based on the server load.

- OTHER SERVER OPTIONS

.Controls whether or not the killcam should be shown when killed

.Time to wait to allow players to change their custom classes or look at the scoreboard once the game finishes before loading the next map.

Well, it's what you've been waiting for, it's the minimum system requirements for Modern Warfare 2. The requirements look good and look to fit most PC's that are in the market these days so it promises to attract most computer owners that have bought a computer in the last 2-3 years.

Here are the specs:


Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (Windows 95/98/ME/2000 are unsupported)
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor or better supported
Memory: 1 GB RAM
Graphics: 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT or better or ATI Radeon 1600XT or better
DirectX®: Microsoft DirectX® 9.0c
Hard Drive: 12GB of free hard drive space
Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
Internet: Broadband connection and service required for Multiplayer Connectivity. Internet Connection required for activation.

Fourzerotwo was on there BASH webcast yesterday morning and he had a few surprises for the PC community.

Here are the snippets:

We're doing a lot on the backend to make the game accessible for everyone.
*
There is no delay for the PC version of MW2
*
There's prestige mode
*
Jason West at the MP event, said that he was dead on, on the matchmaking servers. We've been building a system on the backend called IW.NET.
*
You are completely reliant on IW.NET. There are no server lists. There are no dedicated servers.
*
You have private matches where you can customize the game
*
You cannot put MW2 on a dedicated server.
*
This is the first time we've ever done something like this and the team has huge plans for what IW.NET develops into.
*
Customizing your game...you have quite a few options in a private match
*
You're getting same game (as in Console), plus matchmaking and private match.
*
Server admin point-of view, NO DEDICATED SERVERS


To summarized some of Jockyitch's own thoughts from the cast here:

General

* IW partnering through Steam is what you will see in the future. Matchmaking is not through Steam, but IW.NET is run in conjunction with Steam.
* GSP's will no longer be renting out servers.
* No PunkBuster. VAC will be used as an anti cheat.
* Retail distribution: Pre-orders will get a disk. Or you could order from Steam.
* DLC may now need to be paid for - not confirmed.
* Piracy was only a small reason for going to IW.NET - not the whole reason.

Clans:

* No more clan servers. Private matches, replace clan servers.
* Listen servers will connect to each other.
* IW.NET/Steam will replace the community server admin

Competitive Gaming

* Competitive gaming has changed as we know it.
* It might be possible in the future for IW engineers to load a "competitive" setting on IW.NET, but it is far from a guarantee. It might also never happen.

Modding

* Modding the game is now very much in question. Fourzerotwo had no info on modding. However, it appears that there will be no community mods or maps for MW2.
* Modding in SpecOps? Unknown.

Sleeping Dogs Production's "6 Days" war Machinima documentary is playing at the Cinemanila Film Festival in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

It is exciting to have Machinima premiere alongside such prestigious films such as "Let the Right One In" and "Inglorious Bastards."
