In the Mod DB Awards 2009 the Galactic Warfare mod has come 4th in the 'Players Choice Mod of the Year 2009' category. The Galactic Warfare mod is the real only honourable mentioned for the CoD series for this year, so it's great to see a CoD mod going strongly!
Here is what *bM.w@Lly~ had to say in his newspost over at the Galactic Warfare mods site:
Quote:Over 6.100 modifications for 740 different games. A huge amount of great nominees were competing for the annual „Mod of the Year“ awarded by the modding-page moddb.com. We are presenting our total conversion „Galactic Warfare“ for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare also on this well-known modding platform, released the beta last-minute on 25. December 2009 and earned predominantly positive feedback for our not yet finished creation. However, concerning all the other big classy modifications there we never expected any award placement at all. Our entry in the top 100 as the only modification for Call of Duty 4 was already a big surprise for us.
During the „editor’s choice“ awards (which are given by an expert panel) we – as expected – even were not mentioned at all. All the more we were astonished by the results of the „Player’s choice“ published this weekend. And the players have decided to award us with an awesome 4th rank!

Such a great placement makes us very proud and shows that we have hitted the mark of a lot of CoD4-players out there. All recent file submissions have all gone through as of today, I've been on since 9 in the morning getting all the files uploaded and onto the site as lately we have been having a developer problem where either the developer comes up as SoundLizard, or we can't post the file at all as the system cannot recognise any new developer.
I apologise for any inconvenience caused but it seems to be working for now, so while it is, I'm uploading all files to the site as fast as I can.
For you and for all the staff too (I'm sure I can speak for them on this issue) it seems as though this is just another problem after another, but I can assure you issues are being fixed for example the voting issue is now fixed for files, polls and PotD's so there is a great start!

Please, don't leave WW2 behind. CoD was born in WW2 and I think it's quite better than MW (although CoD 4 is very good).
So, if it's already a fact, that CoD7 will take place in Vietnam, I'll wait for CoD 8, and I hope it will be set back in WW2 (and if it's from the axis side, even better!) and made by IW.

#3, I agree, I don't like all those things in CoD 4 and CoD WaW for multiplayer.
I voted for CoD WaW since is my favourite one, but for singleplayer.
And ,in second place, I would allways re-install CoD 2. I think it is one of the best games I ever played, and I love both sp and mp.
CoD 4 is very good for sp, but not as good as CoD WaW, so it goes in third place.
Then CoD 1. Both sp and mp are good, but I wouldn't play mp in CoD 1 if I have CoD 2. CoD: UO is good, but I like the originall CoD 1 more than the expansion, for sp.
I haven't played MW2 yet.
So, CoD WaW for sp and CoD 2 for mp.

I have requested if we could have an interview with the team at Infinity Ward about Modern Warfare 2 and possibly about the new Vietnam game that could potentially be 'popping-up'. This could happen rather quickly, and would be more of a Q&A type of interview.

As we all have heard that the CoD series may be taking a trip to Vietnam in the next game, it has been said that the game will be much more focused on storyline. Here is an extract from a post from Abstract360:

Here is an update from Fourzerotwo on the Infinity Ward forums about the Chopper Gunner ammo hack, they are going to release a new update to restrict this hack, let's hope it works!
Quote:You may notice a playlist update today on Modern Warfare 2 for Xbox 360 and PS3. This update adds preventative measures that restrict a recent "Chopper Gunner ammo for all weapons" hack from spreading into public matchmaking.
We'll continue to monitor and work to keep games as cheating free and fair as possible.
This specific hack isn't on PC, however banning cheaters via VAC on PC is a continual effort and focus of ours nonetheless.
I'd like to start by saying, it has been a tough year for all FileFront staff, and of course you members as well here at CoDFiles and all across the board. We've had numerous changes and problems to fix, which haven't all been fixed yet, but we're trying to work around them as best as we can.
This isn't going to be a defensive rant, it's going to be a massive thank you to all members who have stuck by CoDFiles over the last year, when the site probably wasn't as it's best, in terms of being able to cope with the arrival of MW2, such as exclusive screenies and things that I previously provided for other launches of games on other sites I admin.
I hope next year will bring better fortune for FileFront, and of course I believe that you have to work hard in order to bring fortune, so I will be working harder than ever next year to insure that CoDFiles is at the top of the market when it comes to hearing about mod news, game related news, and of course files.
We've had a lot of change on this site recently, starting with me taking over quite 'spectacularly' (in the most oddest sense that you can imagine), with staff moving on, TheCheeseman for example, who was an integral part in the sites staff until he had to move on and concentrate on what he loved, which is fair enough.
I hope that the sites staff have done you the best they can with all the problems we have, and we will be looking to do more next year, there will be sufficient plans drawn up to help advertise modders and mappers work around the site, and of course much more community action and integration. These things will take time, but I don't mean 1-2 years, I mean 1 month maximum after the plans are released to you.
I know this sites community loves to give suggestions, and I will listen, this is one of very few sites that the community does this and it just shows how much you care, so if you have any suggestions, email me :digz_365@hotmail.co.uk or just leave a comment.
Before this message goes any more on a tangent, I'd like to leave you with the intended purpose of this thread:

To be honest, it's kinda like I expected it to be... but in the negative way.
Almost everybody heard about the IW's plans for the Multiplayer part, and everyone who knew about those plans expected them to be realized... so yes, it's like I expected it to be - f***ed up multiplayer, lots of cheaters, no mods...
But at least the Singleplayer part was cool imo - I liked to see Washington in pieces

Absolutely the most boring game since BioShock.
If you use shock and awe tactics, Mental Ward, make sure you don't mistake that with infinitely respawning enemies with perfect aim and no AI coming from all directions and damn explosions every time you enter a different room.

haven't bought it yet , i hear more negative about it than positive things so i just wait for price to drop , costs 43,- euro here. only thing that interests me in it is the co-op game , i am not a m.p. fan since united offensive (best mp for me) ,in cod2 game was ruined by cheaters , cod mw too....i was expecting to have mw2 *problems* solved , from what i hear/read.....i wait for something better.
P.S. by the way havent they thought something like ww2 again (so many missions uncovered in many theatres of the war , or even korean war (interestng conflict for fps game).
ANYWAY HAVE ALL MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR , very nice to be possible to vote again here & write comments , long live the game-files.

Well, we have news from Robert Bowlings twitter page that mod tools are on the way, however dedicated servers are not changing. I however like the mod tools coming, although fail to see how it will take effect without changing the servers, it's rather mystifying but we'll see how things work out.

Something between 1-4. I'm not interested in MP and the technical aspects (graphics, stability, general pacing and action, animation, level design, etc.) do not make up for the heavily insulting story.

YAYI! I CANT VOTE AGAIN! i vote 1-4
The SP campaign is good, spectacular as in cod4. But the MP is ugly, too brief, restricted and after one month of play it became boring. SABOTAGE is my favourite gameplay, but the matches now are too short! IW says 9vs9, but for now the max number of players is only 6vs6 or less!
There is another thing: in cod4 the acog and other sights are useful, but strangely in mw2 i found them useless, all of them: its more precise the iron sight of the weapons.
Yes there are some new features i appreciate, like gaining points taking down choppers and aircraft with the stinger, i like new weapons, the silencer for the LMG's guns is good and the shield is interesting, but the game its a failure beacuse of the mp.

I cant vote, i just get white screen but i gave it a 3 so 1-4
Multiplayer is a useless laggy cesspool even with a 20 mbit line. you spend more time waiting than you do playing games!
Single players campain had little to no relevant story to it and was completable in just over 3 hours on veteran. Graphically the games not a huge improvement over cod4, not everyone still uses xp and dx9 based cards.... I would estimate that they recycled 60% plus of the models and textures from cod 4.
The games nothing more than an expansion pack at best.

I gave it a 1, I don`t have DSL or Cable in my area so took me forever to load STEAM and get their "permission" to play game. I have 2 PC`s so I bought another copy for other computer so my brother and I could play DEATHMATCH. Then I find out you have to have minimum on 4 players to play the maps. That teally sucks!!!!. I guess college WHIZ KIDS at IW thought they could make the best multiplayer game series ever made even "better". PC games aren`t dying, they are being slaughtered by todays game developers. Guess I`ll go back to the old games that were FUN and I never get tired of PLAYING.

I skipped this one. I read to many negative things. My CodMW1 is a coaster. I am thankful Cod WaW (Tactical servers Only!). I wish there could be an understanding with the developers to hold PC games to a higher standard. And keep the kiddie games available to anyone happy with their crappy consoles.

We've just had some news in from Republic_soldier about a new Star Wars mod for CoD4! You can check out a small description of the mod below and even check out a frag video too, which looks brilliant! Visit their website for more info and to support this great mod.
Our public beta version of Galactic Warfare will be released soon unless there are no unexpected difficulties. There are still some player models, game types and smaller things which have to be integrated to the mod. But we are optimistic that Galactic Warfare will be released before Christmas!
