Here we have another awesome update from the UtBS mod, one for which I got to make a contribution. Read the interview and the details below, and check out the twenty-seven screens at the bottom!
Quote:The past month has truly flown by, but UtBS has been developing just as fast! This month, we have a real treat for our fans-- our stunning Carcano Fucile 91/38 rifle with folding bayonet, screens of our hot maps, including a brand new battlefield from Olle_se elusively entitled, "Area 13," 4 new soldier uniforms, and more! But first, we would like to take you into the world of WWII re-enacting as we interview UtBS fan and avid re-enactor, Edward "Vard." Check it out!
UtBS Interview: Re-Living WWII
BWM: What Armies and Units do you re-enact? Vard: I re-enact the WWII American 2nd rangers, who landed on Omaha and Pointe-du-Hoc on D-Day, and also fought in North Africa.
BWM: What goes on during a re-enactment for you? Have you done any major battles from WWII? Vard: Basically it depends, if it's a private battle (no public), it's hand-on-hand tactics. We use blanks, which they use in the films, so basically you have to be kind and take shots, especially up-close. If it's a public show, most of the time it's done by script, etc.
BWM: What types of equipment and weaponry do you get to operate during re-enactments? Vard: Usually blank-firing weapons or deactivated ones (used in the war); for my rank, an M1 Garand, but higher ranks use Thompsons, Carbines, etc.
BWM: What different types of soldiers will you see on the battlefield? Do you have a particular specialty as a soldier? How do medics, chaplains, etc. play a role? Vard: Depends on what group you are reenacting with. There are many German reenactor groups such as Fallschirmjaeger and even Waffen-SS! As far as medics go, basically wounded soldiers would obviously lie down, and if possible scream "Medic!" Then a medic or two would look at the re-enactor (if there is a crowd) and rush him to a nearby safe place, usually by his webbing for effect. Then the public would be moved on, so those soldiers could get up, and slip around the back as reinforcements or whatever (obviously looking like new troops entering the battlefield). Remember though, this does usually vary on what kind of show it is. I can't really say a lot about the Chaplains, because personally I've never come across one during a re-enactment! You've also got your usual .30 cal team, which would be held back sometimes as covering fire, while the infantry troops move in. As I said, it is usually done by script to the public, so it's all organized on who wins over who.
BWM: What is your favorite part of being a re-enactor?
Vard: I would say meeting veterans. My leader once told me that one year, they were in Normandy for D-Day, and a 2nd Ranger veteran came up to the group, checked our gear, and said "spot on."
Hope you guys enjoyed that, now onto our new screens... Enjoy!
Well, that does it for this month's screens - hope those kept you excited! Expect Upon the Burning Sands to be out this fall, and to be one of the best mods around! We are currently looking for talented MODELERS to help with a few map props, but primarily with UV Mapping. If you are interested, please drop us an e-mail. Over and Out!

This mod is amongst the most well led, and has produced the best quality work I have ever seen. Yes it is for UO and I think they had some discussion about moving to cod2, just not sure about it.

Well thanks, Flodgy! Its awesome to see that someone can point out the leadership being a part of our great progress!
To answer your questions--
Lotsneaky, UtBS is for UO only, BlackWater will be doing something else for CoD2.
For 2nd Rangers, that jackets is based on what was worn during the Battle of Kasserine Pass, we are also including an alternate uniform for select classes using the M1941 Field Jacket and a more defined HBT pant, but those skins have not been finalized yet. Also, we have a correct 2nd RBn helmet, which is not pictured above.
Thanks for the feedback guys, look forward to another great update in the near future!
