I understand what you're getting at, but i don't think he was referring to that actually.
To be honest, I believe that he was referring to the fact that his deaths are 23, BUT his actual score is 2300, so if he had gotten 23 kills, then his score would be the exact same (assuming no assists or any other extra points).
Other than that, i'm waiting for the next potd to arrive. |

Posts: 855 | Kenalk, as someone who's been stomping around here for about three more years than you, let me explain something about the POTDs (other posting veterans, feel free to help me in this little class):
When you post something anywhere, be it the Internet or some elementary school art expo, you are opening yourself to the possibility that you are going to be criticized, sometimes well, sometimes not so well. Just because someone says that your submission sucks doe snot necessarily mean that you should get your panties in a twist. After all, by submitting this, you are in effect signing a contract stating that you are ready for all forms of criticism. And trust me, 'round these here parts, we criticize crappy POTDs like it's nobody's business.
Additionally, you need to respect such a thing as the majority will. If the majority think your submission is crap--and that 3.3 rating shows that they do--you need to back down and admit to yourself that perhaps the submission not as funny/cool/whatever as you thought it was. This is the proper course of action. Notice it didn't say anything about "call other posters 13-year-old jerks". Such a move only makes people look down on you more and creates more enemies than friends. Sometimes you just have to admit defeat early on and preserve your dignity, rather than go out in an explosion of angst.
In short, your POTD sucks, deal with it. |

Posts: 474 | Okay, I have to admit, there needs to be a level of maturity that should be expected here, although this is the internet we are talking about so literally anything goes.
Just my two cents here,
In all fairness, people will criticise potd's, there is a public scoring here, so people can literally vote down a potd if they do not find it to their liking. There is a commenting section as well, people will comment and talk, and criticise (Although it should expected of the poster to be mature and weary and careful of posting what they say, obvious slander or verbal assault is not needed). I figure most people who view potd's come to see them to get a good laugh or ridiculing something in-game for fun. Generally (or from what i think), people are not amused by potd's with the game ending scores regardless of how good a player is, as it can indict that player as being shallow, prideful, obnoxious etc. Often it just stirs up a lot of negative responses or spitefulness. Age is really an expectancy, but maturity is something that is built upon and learned skill (i.e. a 10 year can be perfectly well-mannered while at the same time some 25 year old person can be completely ill-mannered). People just expect (and sometimes stereotype) adolescents to start acting more mature, but maturity is something that needs to be taught and learned from others. At the same time, it should be expected from other people that needlessly calling the original potd poster an idiot or cursing at them isn't something that is needed (also immature), there is no good reason to do that and it also represents immaturity as well, (most people do it out of annoyance though really). Basically the verbal assaulting should be looked down upon as well. But again, the potd's will be critcised, people will comment, but people should also be mature about what they are going to say, more self-control over actions is better. People aren't going to like all potd's and at the same time, there is no need to over-react to the feedback from the community.
Somewhere along those words i think i was probably being a hypocrite, but its just my two cents really. |
